Be a Fly on the Wall of My Life

My thoughts, feelings and surges of random writing fever.

It's official... I am now a grown-up.

I think I fit all of the qualifications of being an adult...
#1. I do not live with my parents. (dorms do not count)
#2. I pay rent
#3. I have a job
#4. I pay my own bills
#5. I can buy cigarettes and can almost buy alcohol (not that I use either of them) and
#6. I went for 2 months without coming home to see my family.

Aren't you so proud of me? :) It seems strange that I am leading my own life now... I made choices and those choices put me where I am. That is another example of what makes someone an adult. As child, the parents are the ones who make most of the decisions that put our lives on a certain path. We may stray from that path, but straying from the path of someone else is completely different than starting a new path on your own.

So far I would have to say that being an adult kind of sucks. When I was a little girl I used to wish I was older so that I could do things my way, but now that I am older, I still have to do certain things to stay alive. No matter how old you are or where you are, you can never have complete freedom from responsibility. I am sure there are some of you reading this that would tell me that sentence is simply not true, but as a rule, a self-sufficient person cannot live life without some kind of responsibility. And as much as responsibility is a kill-joy, without it, life would be chaos.
